Forgotten Disney Offers A look at a Lost World – BMW of Elmhurst Dealer

June 27th, 2022 by

If you’re a fan of Walt Disney World, you know that the theme park is constantly changing and evolving. Forgotten Disney: Extinct Rides and Attractions of the Florida Parks looks at some of the attractions that have closed at Walt Disney World over the years. It’s hard to say goodbye to any attraction at Walt Disney World, but sometimes they must close to make way for new and exciting experiences. This can be bittersweet for some guests, who mourn the loss of favorite attractions. Some were legendary and will be sorely missed, while others were not so well-loved. Regardless of how you feel about them, it’s interesting to look back at what Walt Disney World was once like. At BMW of Elmhurst, we believe you’ll enjoy this interesting hybrid event on Wed, June 29, at the Elmhurst Public Library.

Forgotten DisneyIt’s hard to believe that Walt Disney World is 50 years old! During that time, the resort has seen its share of closures and changes. Some of the lost places of Walt Disney World are downright strange. For example, did you know that in the Magic Kingdom’s Liberty Square, there was once an attraction called Mike Fink Keel Boats? These free-floating boats were based on two episodes of the Davy Crockett miniseries, which aired on the Disneyland TV show in 1955. The two 38-foot boats were actual props used in making the TV shows a few months earlier.

And in Epcot, there used to be an area called Future World West, which was home to Horizons and the World of Motion, which are also now gone.

Disney is constantly working to create new and better experiences for its guests. While the closed attractions have now been replaced with newer ones, it’s still fun to look back and remember all the attractions that have come and gone over the years.
