Overview
The BMW 3 Series’ reputation as the world’s most popular range of sport sedans remains undisturbed. The additions for this year include a hardtop convertible and an all-wheel-drive (AWD) sedan. The coupe has been redesigned and comes with an all-wheel-drive configuration. This is how the lineup now reads: the 3 Series sedan and coupe now come as 328i, all-wheel-drive as 328xi and 335i models; an AWD 335xi sedan, and a two-door convertible in 328i or 335i versions, which are mid-season additions. Wagons are available as the 328i or 328xi.
Engine and Performance
Standard configuration for all models includes a 3.0-liter, inline six-cylinder engine. The 328i and 328xi emit 230 horsepower; the 335i and 335xi, which are turbo-charged, give out 300 horsepower. Standard is a six-speed manual transmission; a six-speed Steptronic automatic is optional. This model offers fuel economy of 20 mpg in the city and 29 mpg on the highway.
Build and Styling
The BMW 3 Series carries the signature double kidney grille and sculpted appearance of others model from this carmaker. Clear-lens xenon swivel headlights sit round the corners. Cabin interiors are designed for maximum driver comfort. Superb build quality, supportive seats, a simple dash and neat analog gauges are other features.
Safety
Standard on all models are anti-lock brakes; traction and anti-skid control; and front side air bags. Side air bags are standard on all except the convertibles. BMW's active steering has been made standard on all rear-wheel-drive models. BMW's iDrive technology uses a console knob to control entertainment, navigation, communication and other functions, making the vehicle reliable in all conditions.
