| The 2009 M6 shares the same V10 engine as the M5 Sports Sedan. The burly 5.0-liter delivers an outstanding 500-hp and 383 pound-feet torque, while achieving 19 miles per gallon on highways. The engine is paired with a seven-speed sequential manual transmission. Double VANOS allows the engine to choose valve timing for both intake and exhaust camshafts. It helps in maximizing engine response and efficiency, while controlling emissions. It also provides more low- to medium-speed torque for strong acceleration and added flexibility for better highway performance, plus a quieter, smoother engine at idle. |
