Overview
The 2009 BMW X5 is a premium sport utility vehicle (SUV) that offers quality comfort, safety, and luxury. It can seat up to seven passengers and is available in two trims - xDrive30i and xDrive48i.
Engine and Performance
The 2009 BMW X5 xDrive30i trim is powered by a 260-hp, 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder engine. The xDrive48i trim is equipped with a 350-hp, 4.8-liter V8 engine. A six-speed automatic transmission with Steptronic manual shift mode, as well as BMW's xDrive intelligent all-wheel drive system is standard on both trims.
Build and Styling
On the xDrive30 trim, the standard exterior features include 18-inch alloy wheels; Xenon Adaptive Headlights with auto-leveling and Corona headlight-rings; Halogen free-form foglights with Cornering Lights function; and intermittent rain-sensing windshield wipers with adjustable vehicle-speed-sensitive wiping interval; single-wipe control; and windshield-washer system with heated washer jets.

Inside, the 2009 BMW X5 seats five but the optional third row seat increases this capacity to seven. A 10-way power-adjustable driver and front passenger seat with memory system for the driver's seat is standard on the X5. An anti-theft AM/FM stereo CD radio with Radio Data System (RDS); MP3 capabilities; 3-channel FM diversity antenna system; high-fidelity 10-speaker sound system that includes 2 subwoofers under the front seats; and a digital 7-channel amplifier with 205 watts of power are some standard entertainment features on the xDrive30i trim.
Safety Features
Anti-lock disc brakes; run-flat tires; bi-xenon adaptive headlamps; Dynamic Stability Control with traction control and rollover sensor; adaptive LED brake lights; front side-impact airbags; and overhead curtain airbags for all rows are some of the standard safety features on the 2009 BMW X5.
