Overview

For the BMW 7 Series sedan, 2013 year model changes are many and superb. Under an even sleeker style, the two engine types have acquired 8-speed automatic transmission, automatic stop and start and an EcoPro adjustable drive setting. Within the engines, the turbocharged V8 has taken on additional power delivers better than earlier mileage. Turbocharged inline-6, the new one delivers improved fuel efficiency. On the smart front, 7 series adds the latest version of iDrive electronics interface. BMW has devoted attention to the melody department too by loading on the Bang & Olufsen sound system.

Power and performance

Turbocharged 3L 6 cylinder engines drive the BMW 740 7 Series. Next in the range, the BMW 750 gets 4.4L Twin Turbo V8 and then the 760 Li is powered by Twin Turbo 6L V12. The models sporting the X in their labels are capable of All- wheel drive and the others have rear wheel drives. 8-speed automatic transmission, the 2013 addition has improved drivability and fuel economy all along the line up. Depending on the model, the mileage is between 19 mpg city and 28 mpg on the highways.

Body and styling

740i Sedan, 740Li Sedan, 740Li xDrive Sedan, 750i Sedan, 750i, 750i xDrive, 750Li, 750Li xDrive, 760Li line up stylishly across the plentiful range of the BMW 7 series. The L in the label denotes a longer wheelbase and the X stands for AWD capability. Different engine types power the 740, 750 and 760 models. And, the color palette offers as many as 17 or more body colors for the models. There is an ActiveHybrid 7, one of the more eco-friendly sedans on American roads. And the prestigiously premium Alpina B7 tops the offerings with 500 HP power and luxury of superior order. The permutation and combination of exterior features is a quite a deal, but describing the BMW 740i sedan, the baby of the range, would give more than a fair ideas of what a luxury car can be. Starting from bottom up, the 740i runs on 18? wheels shod with ?Run Flat? tires, which help driving up to 150 miles (not on very bad roads,) even at low pressure. Self-leveling rear air suspension, adaptive dampers, and adjustable drive settings ensure that BMW?s celebrated comfort drive and travel. A sunroof at the top, Auto-leveling and adaptive xenon headlights at the front, auto-dimming mirrors at the sides and rearview camera at the rear complete the precisely engineered car. Every 7 series car has something new and thoughtful for the year. Audio and phone controls are mounted on the power tilting, telescopic multi-function Sport steering wheel lovingly wrapped in leather. Adjustable bolsters, massaging seats, Refined leather upholstery, ceramic trimmed controls, and son vary with the model.

Safety Features

Lane departure warning, night vision, Active cruise stop and go, Active blind spot detect system and a host of technologies, instruments, and system all most take over most of the driving ? the BMW 7 Series feels as if it is on auto-pilot. While it is safe driving is essential, the 7 Series is the proverbial friend in need, in case the road comes up with unexpected challenges.
