The BMW i5 debuted in 2024 as an all-electric sedan inspired by the popular 5 Series. The 2025 BMW i5 has one significant update. This year, the xDrive40 is added to the trim levels. This option stands apart with two electric motors that produce 389 horsepower. It features all-wheel drive and only needs 5.2 seconds to reach 60 miles per hour.
The entry-level i5 is the eDrive50, a single-motor system with rear-wheel drive that generates 335 horsepower and has a driving range of up to 295 miles. The top-of-the-line i5 for 2024 is the M60, a two-motor system with all-wheel drive that puts out 592 horsepower. The M60’s range on a full charge is up to 256 miles. This high-performance trim level also has upgraded brakes and an adaptive sport-tuned suspension system.
The design of the 2025 BMW i5 is identical to its 2024 counterpart. While the sedan has a roomy cabin, its façade is streamlined and aerodynamic. The sides hint at smooth contouring, and the long hood effortlessly trends toward the kidney-style grille. The sporty look of this BMW sedan is further established by its long, lean headlights that taper to a point and the large, deep air inlets. The entry-level trim has a sunroof and 19-inch wheels. Higher trims have cornering lights, a panoramic glass roof, power rear sunshades, and 19-inch wheels.
If you opt for the entry-level trim, the 2025 BMW i5 will pamper you with synthetic leather upholstery, a Harman Kardon sound system, a 14.9-inch touch display screen, wireless Android Auto with Apple CarPlay, a digital instrument cluster, a wireless charging pad, forward collision detection, a blind-spot warning, lane keeping, a dual-zone AC system and others.
