A Gift from BMW to the United States

BMW is turning 100 in 2016, and instead of expecting a present, they’ve decided to give one instead. The new BMW M4 GTS is set to debut at Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance 2015, and when you see it, your jaw will drop. It’s a supercharged version of the M4, a model after debuting 2 years ago sells better in the United States than any other country.

BMW has a long history of releasing supercharged M3s, like the E30, in Europe and not offering them in the United States. Perhaps to reward their loyal Yankee customers, they’re premiering the M4 GTS in the United States and it will be available all across the country in March of 2016.

For those of you who aren’t familiar with the line, the BMW M4 is a super-charged version of BMW’s best-selling luxury sedans. That makes the M4 GTS even more flashy and race-ready. The classic M4— an automotive masterpiece in its own right—lists at around 80,700. Though the price for the M4 GTS remains to be seen, speculators are putting it at around $100,000. Sound like too much? Well, you’ve got to see the specs for yourself before making a judgement.

Body and Interior

As far as the interior and exterior, the M4 GTS is purported to have:

  • Aerodynamic upgrades
  • Roll cage instead of rear seats
  • Lighter-weight materials
  • Carbon-fiber hood
  • Stripped-down, ergonomic cabin
  • Manually adjustable splitter and wing
  • OLED taillights

Performance

Down where it counts, in the engine, customers will love:

  • Twin-turbo, straight six-engine
  • Water injection
  • Power is estimated to be 470 horsepower
  • Increase of 55 horsepower compared to the normal M3 and M4
  • Ceramic brakes and a dual-clutch transmission comes standard
