‘Ace’ Takes Flight at York Drama – BMW of Elmhurst Dealer

Join York Drama as it presents “Ace,” a musical that’s sure to reach new heights. York Drama’s latest musical adventure marks the return of live theatre after two years. The play, written by Robert Taylor and Richard Oberaker, is sure to be a hit that residents of Elmhurst will talk about for some time. The production is directed by Rebecca Marianetti & Matt Bourke. Playwrights Taylor and Oberaker are the team that brought “Bandstand” to Broadway. “Ace” tells the story of three generations of a family, from two world wars into the 1960s. When a boy’s mother passes away, he struggles to find meaning until he meets a family member, with life-changing consequences.

“We are elated to be premiering ‘Ace,’ and the process of digging into this stunning script and score as a cast has been indescribable,” said York Drama Director Rebecca Marianetti. “The joy of creating is truly back. We are so excited to share this deeply moving and hopeful story with our audience.”

“What is truly remarkable about this story is how easily everyone can find themselves in it, in one character or another, one moment or another,” said York Drama Director Matt Bourke.

York students recently had the opportunity to meet and learn from Oberacker and Taylor. The duo led a two-day master class and concert performance in January. Students gained valuable experience from these two formidable Broadway greats.
