BMW Has Something to Celebrate: 10 million 3 Series Sedans Have Been Produced

It’s been almost 40 years since the first 3 Series sedan was built. With 14 million built and 10 million produced now, BMW is celebrating this huge accomplishment.
The 10 millionth 3 Series was produced in Plant Munich. This vehicle, obviously a special one, will be treated as such. It’s going to be imperial blue 320d. This facility, with a production capacity of 1,000 cars per day, has produced all 6 six generations of the ever popular Bavarian car. And half of those 1,000 cars they manage to produce are, you guessed it, the 3 series. But don’t worry, the 3 Series is also being built at Plants Regensburg (Germany), Rosslyn (South Africa) and Tiexi (China).
“The success story of the BMW 3 Series started here in Plant Munich and is now reaching a very special highpoint here as well. The fact that this landmark vehicle was produced at our plant is a particular honour for us and makes me very proud indeed of my team”, said Hermann Bohrer, Plant Director at the BMW Group facility in Munich towww.carscoops.com
July of this year marked the very first plug-in hybrid 3 series. This was the latest iteration of the successful car. It’s called the 330e and it made it to the Frankfurt Motor Show.
Even though the hybrid 330e doesn’t necessarily look that much different from its predecessors, there’s still quite a few technical differences that differentiate this car.
There are revised air intakes, LED tail lights and optional full-LED headlights which are great for the environment. The interior also has a few more chrome lights and the car is now more customizable than ever.
However, the best part is under the bonnet. If you purchase one of these sleek vehicles, you’ve got yourself a 136 PS three-cylinder turbocharged petrol unit. And, according to reviews, they work surprisingly well with the 8.9 sec 0-100 km/h (62 mph) sprint time.
if that’s still not enough, you can get the 340i version, powered by a 3.0 liter turbocharged petrol engine that’s capable of 326 PS and 450 Nm (332 lb-ft) of torque. This car can hit 100 km/h (62 mph) in a mere 5.1 seconds.
10 million 3 Series, the latest being an ultra cool hybrid? That’s definitely something to celebrate.
