BMW Releases New My BMW App – BMW of Elmhurst

BMW has introduced the all-new My BMW App for Apple and Android devices. The new universal interface, which replaces the BMW Connected app, will provide customers with many new features and enhanced functionality, including improved Amazon Alexa integration. We at BMW of Elmhurst appreciate the technology BMW builds into its vehicles and believe the new app will provide a superior mobile experience for our customers.

BMW developed the My BMW App in-house after studying driver behavior patterns and listening to consumer feedback. The resulting design offers customers an all-in-one interface organized under three easy-to-navigate tabs: Vehicle, Map and Profile. Under these tabs, customers can see information on their vehicle’s status, remotely activate locks and climate controls, monitor vehicle surroundings with the Remote 3D View function, and quickly locate critical services such as fuel stations and BMW service centers. They can also access their integrated BMW Financial Services account to make payments, view their billing history, enroll in paperless statements, and more.

Other exciting features of the My BMW App include:

• The BMW Digital Key, which allows drivers to use their smartphone as a key for their vehicle
• The Climate Timer, which lets owners pre-condition the interior temperature of vehicles with electrified drive systems
• Amazon Alexa integration and “wake-word” functionality for BMW models with BMW iDrive 7
• Additional Maps filter functions to quickly locate charging stations, parking locations, fuel stations and more
• Remote Software Upgrade notifications that prompt customers to download software upgrades from the convenience of their home before transferring and installing them in their BMW vehicle

The My BMW App is fully customizable to meet each customer’s individual needs and preferences. It also features a scalable universal platform built to support future requirements on both iOS and Android systems, meaning that new features can be easily implemented over time. Customers can download the app from the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store beginning April 12, 2021. BMW Connected will continue to operate until the end of June.
