Check Out “A Space Problem” at McCormick House – BMW of Elmhurst Dealer

September 10th, 2020 by

Visit the Elmhurst Art Museum and experience “A Space Problem,” which runs through Nov. 15 at Mies van der Rohe’s McCormick House. Coordinated by Chicago designer David Salkin, this exhibit reimagines the historic house as a home for design enthusiasts, including iconic mid-century furniture, patterned rugs, ceramics, photo collages, abstract paintings and design objects. Here at BMW of Elmhurst, we always enjoy the art museum’s McCormick House exhibitions, and we encourage everyone to come out and see “A Space Problem.”

A Space ProblemArtists featured in the exhibition include Marshall Brown (Princeton, NJ), Jennefer Hoffmann (Chicago), Sterling Lawrence (Chicago), David Salkin (Chicago) and Geoffrey Todd Smith (Westchester, IL). “A Space Problem” accompanies an installation devoted to historic photographs, models, and stories about the House’s distinction as a prefab prototype by the famed modernist, Mies van der Rohe.

David Salkin, the exhibition’s organizer, lives and works in Chicago. His one-off rugs use non-repeating patterns that encourage viewers to seek comfort in inconspicuous repetition and order.
