December 21st, 2018 by

If you have children age 5 and older who are interested in dinosaurs, you don’t want to miss the Lizzadro Museum of Lapidary Art’s Dino Day on Saturday, January 5, 2019. the museum has lots of fun and educational dinosaur-related activities planned from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Parents, you’re invited to play, too! You can touch real fossils, enjoy a game of dinosaur bingo, make a fossil imprint of your own and win prizes. At Elmhurst BMW, we appreciate the wide range of educational and cultural family events available to us in Elmhurst. Dino Day is a fun way to spend time together with your children, and we encourage you to attend.

Dino DayAlthough dinosaurs became extinct millions of years ago, they left behind clues about their existence in the form of fossilized bones, footprints and eggs. Paleontologists, the scientists who study these fossils, are like detectives who find the clues and use them to solve some of the mysteries about dinosaurs, such as what they may have looked like, how they lived, what food they ate and what their environment was like.

At Dino Day, you and your kids can feel like real paleontologists with the museum’s hands-on activities. You can assemble 3-D dinosaur bone puzzles, look at real fossils and make a fossil imprint to take home. Dinosaur bingo will be played at 10:30, 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m., and fossil prizes will be awarded!

The Lizzadro Museum has a collection of many plant and animal fossils on permanent display, including a Tully Monster, the state fossil of Illinois. The museum is also home to hundreds of beautiful, handcrafted decorative items including rock carvings, gemstones, dioramas, mosaics, cameos, minerals and more than 200 pieces of carved jade.
