Explore Elmhurst’s Modern Architecture at Wright Before the “Lloyd” – BMW of Elmhurst Dealer

Don’t miss the exhibition, Wright Before the “Lloyd” at the Elmhurst Art Museum. This exhibition uses artifacts and images to examine exploratory work by architect Frank Lloyd Wright. As always, we at BMW of Elmhurst are thankful to have a great institution such as the Elmhurst Art Museum in our community. We believe Wright Before the “Lloyd” will be a fascinating exhibition.

Wright Before the “Lloyd”The organizers found it challenging to collect the materials to tell the story of Frank Lloyd Wright’s early work. (The title is a reference to Wright’s original signature of “Frank L. Wright.”) Many of the materials from this period were lost and damaged due to fire, demolition and deterioration, but pieces were rescued and reassembled by Chicago cultural historian Tim Samuelson. The designs were reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology and restored to their original appearance and colors.

Chicago’s official cultural historian since 2002, Tim Samuelson has been involved in local preservation for many years, and he played an important role as part of the Commission on Chicago Landmarks in the 1980s.

Admission to Wright Before the “Lloyd” includes a free socially distanced self-guided outdoor walking tour of Elmhurst’s modern architecture. Explore the exhibit and then take a tour of the architectural treasures of Elmhurst, the only city that features houses by Frank Lloyd Wright and Mies van der Rohe.

Wright Before the “Lloyd” is presented in partnership with the Elmhurst History Museum and their complementary exhibition, Frank Lloyd Wright: Architecture of the Interior, which takes place from October 23 through December 20, 2020.
