Head to Spring Break History Hunt – Elmhurst BMW Dealer

February 28th, 2019 by

If you’re looking for fun family activities while your kids are off school for Spring Break, be sure to check out the Spring Break History Hunt at the Churchville Schoolhouse and Fischer Farm. This free activity takes place on Wednesday, March 27, 2019 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Stop by the Churchville One-Room Schoolhouse and Fischer Farm for a historic scavenger hunt through the properties’ grounds and buildings. All of us at Elmhurst BMW encourage you to attend the Spring Break History Hunt at these beautiful, historic sites in nearby Bensenville.

Spring Break History HuntAt the Churchville Schoolhouse, your children can join in lessons that might have been taught by a schoolmarm in 1910. They’ll practice their penmanship, play historic games and engage in crafts (while supplies last). These activities all meet the requirements of the History Hunt. For moms and dads in attendance, you might find the schoolhouse itself to be interesting. Built around 1846, the Churchville Schoolhouse is on the National Register of Historic Places. All the children in the area would have attended this one-room schoolhouse until it closed in 1930.

At Fischer Farm, children can see the farm animals and visit the various buildings on the site. There will be plenty of things to do that meet the requirements of the History Hunt. Just like the Churchville Schoolhouse, Fischer Farm is a beautifully preserved place that shows what life would have been like for settlers in the 19th century. The Fischer family purchased the land and built a cabin there around 1838. Over time they built a barn and other outbuildings. The preserved farmhouse dates back to around 1920.

The Spring Break History Hunt is open to all ages. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Prizes will be given to everyone who completes the Spring Break History Hunt at both the Churchville Schoolhouse and Fischer Farm. No registration is required, and you can stop by the event anytime between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m.
