It’s Time for Par Excellence Redux: The Back 9 – BMW of Elmhurst Dealer

If you’ve been waiting for Par Excellence Redux: The Back 9, the time has come. The exhibition opens on Wednesday, Oct. 13, 2021. This is the second part of the course, which is presented by the Elmhurst Art Museum. At BMW of Elmhurst, we think this is the perfect way to spend a morning or afternoon for anyone who loves art, golf or both!

Par Excellence Redux: The Back 9Par Excellence Redux: The Back 9 is a fully playable miniature golf course that’s also a reinterpretation of the Par Excellence exhibition of 1988, presented by the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. The call for proposals led to area artists designing holes of different degrees of difficulty.

This art-inspired miniature golf course features new layouts and new challenges. The course is divided into two exhibitions. The Front 9 debuted in the summer, and the Back 9 is slated for fall. The courses comply with Covid protocols and incorporate a variety of themes, putting an artistic spin on a popular game.

Par Excellence Redux: The Back 9 artists include Wesley Baker, KT Duffy, Eve Fineman, Annalee Koehn, Vincent Lotesto, Joshua Lowe, Jim Merz, Donna Piacenza, David Quednau, and Liam Wilson & Anna Gershoni.

The exhibit pays tribute to Par Excellence (1988), developed by Chicago artist Mike O’Brien. The original exhibition sold out daily and was covered by the media, including the Chicago Tribune, the Wall Street Journal, the New York Times, People Magazine and CNN. The course eventually became a commercial miniature golf course called ArtGolf.
