Jeff Panko and Friends – BMW of Elmhurst Dealer

If you love classical music, you’ll want to join Music at Bethel on Saturday, Oct. 15, for Jeff Panko and Friends. This lively concert features music by Mozart, Dvořák and Liszt. At BMW of Elmhurst, we’re sure this will be a great evening of music, so head over to the Bethel United Church of Christ and enjoy the performance.

Jeff Panko and Friends features Artistic Director and pianist Jeffrey Panko. He’s joined by fellow Indigo Ensemble members, including violinist Yuriy Geyer, violinist Jennifer Leckie, violist Uli Widmaier, and cellist Tim Archbold. Pianist Zarin Mehta makes a guest appearance.

The program includes Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 12 in A major, K 414, in a string quartet version arranged by Mozart. Also featured are Mozart’s Granados – Piano Quintet in G minor, Op. 49; Dvořák’s Piano Quintet in A major, Op. 81; and the Transcendental Étude No. 8 in C minor “Wilde Jagd” by Franz Liszt.

Mozart wrote the Piano Concerto No. 12 in A major in 1782. It was written for solo piano (or harpsichord), two oboes, two horns, two bassoons (optional), and strings (violins, violas, cellos, and double basses). The work can also be performed with a string quartet and piano. It was the first of three keyboard concertos Mozart performed at his Lenten concerts in 1783.

Dvorák’s Piano Quintet in A major, Op. 81 is one of the finest examples of late Romantic chamber music. It features the expansive sound of a string quartet and grand piano.

Liszt’s Transcendental Étude No. 8 in C minor “Wilde Jagd” is the composer’s eighth étude in the twelve Transcendental Études.
