Journey to Impressionist Paris – BMW of Elmhurst Dealer

If you’re an art-lover or want to learn about Impressionism, you’ll want to attend Impressionist Paris, a presentation by the Elmhurst Public Library. This hybrid event takes place on Monday, Dec. 5, at 7 p.m. Attendees will learn about the Impressionist painters working in Paris in the 1850s, including Cassatt, Degas, Monet, Renoir, and others. At BMW of Elmhurst, we think this is an excellent opportunity to learn about art. We hope you can attend.

Impressionist ParisParis in the 1850s was a bustling and vibrant city. By this time, the city had been transformed from its medieval past into a modern and stylish metropolis. During this time, the city was known as the “City of Light” due to its many grand boulevards and parks illuminated by gaslight. The city was home to a wide variety of people, from the rich and fashionable to the poor and working classes. The city also had a lively cultural life, with a burgeoning art and music scene, as well as a vibrant nightlife. Overall, Paris in the 1850s was a lively and exciting place to be.

The Impressionist painting style was characterized by its use of light and color to create a sense of atmosphere. The movement was pioneered by a group of French painters who sought to capture the fleeting effects of light and color in nature. Impressionist paintings often feature short, broken brushstrokes and vibrant, contrasting tones. The paintings of this period often had a dreamy, ethereal quality. Impressionism has become one of the most influential art movements of all time, inspiring generations of artists and influencing the development of modern art.
