Learn About Restoration at the Vintage Home Show – BMW of Elmhurst Dealer

Learn how to care for your older home at the inaugural Vintage Home Show on Saturday, April 24, 2021. During this all-day virtual event, presented by Unity Temple Restoration Foundation, expert contractors, artisans and vendors will offer advice on the maintenance, restoration, finance and sale of vintage homes. At BMW of Elmhurst, we appreciate the beauty and history of vintage buildings, and we hope local homeowners will find value in this unique program.

The Vintage Home ShowWhile the greater Chicagoland area is teeming with vintage properties, including Oak Park’s famous collection of 25 Frank Lloyd Wright homes and buildings, few home shows in the region are dedicated to the care of older structures. To fill that void, Unity Temple Restoration Foundation is partnering with the Oak River Forest Chamber of Commerce to host the Vintage Home Show, a day of online workshops for historic homeowners. The presentations will be led by a variety of highly experienced professionals and cover a wide range of topics, including:

  • General construction
  • Historic tile restoration
  • Art glass repair
  • Heating and cooling issues
  • Plumbing
  • Historic home research
  • Historic certifications
  • Window sash repair
  • Insurance for vintage buildings
  • Sustainable mechanical systems
  • Real estate issues
  • Hiring a project team

Admission to the Vintage Home Show will include access to live Q&A sessions and tour passes for Frank Lloyd Wright’s Unity Temple. Guests are free to enter and exit the event as often as they wish to attend preferred workshops and meet with exhibitors. Proceeds will help Unity Temple Restoration Foundation preserve Unity Temple and provide quality programming for the community.
