Love and Loss at Almost, Maine – BMW of Elmhurst Dealer

There’s still time to catch Almost, Maine, which will be performed by the York High School Drama Club and streamed tonight, Oct. 22 through Oct. 25 at 7:30 p.m. The play is presented as part of the club’s 2020-2021 season, which carries the theme, “Lift With Love.” At BMW of Elmhurst, we’re glad to have such a talented group of young actors in our community. Almost, Maine is directed by John Forsythe, but each scene features a different student director. Almost Maine is set in today’s world, and the performance will include masks and social distancing. The play is a collection of short plays that explore the themes of love and loss in the fictional town of Almost, Maine. The original production took place in 2004 and received excellent reviews.

“Human connection is desperately needed right now,” said Rebecca Marianetti, York Drama Director. “We are all trying to find a way to keep relationships alive; the connections between people can never be underestimated, especially as we seek to strengthen ourselves and our community.”

The York High School Drama Club kicked off the season by circulating 1,000 cards throughout Elmhurst. The postcards included messages with the “Lift With Love” theme, along with a unique note from the drama board on the reverse side of each card.

Almost, Maine is one of the most frequently produced plays in the country. Playwright John Cariani has also adapted his play into a novel. You may know Cariani as forensic expert Julian Beck in the TV show Law & Order. He was nominated for a Tony Award for his acting role in the 2004 revival of Fiddler on the Roof.
