The opera’s themes of envy, ardor, and deceit still resonate with audiences worldwide. Music from this opera has been featured in various TV shows, movies, and commercials. Among the numerous popular arias and duets are “Habanera,” “Toreador Song,” and “La fleur que tu m’avais jetée.”

Many of his works failed to earn recognition, and he encountered financial struggles throughout his career. “Carmen” received mixed reviews when it debuted.
