Reminisce with Famous Hollywood Pairs – BMW of Elmhurst Dealer

If you remember the famous Hollywood couples and double acts, you’ll enjoy Famous Hollywood Pairs, a Zoom presentation on Monday, June 14, 2021, at 1 p.m. Presented by the Elmhurst Public Library, this live talk by Larry Bergnach will cover Hollywood pairs, including Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers, Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall, Laurel and Hardy, and Abbott and Costello. At BMW of Elmhurst, we can’t express our admiration for the Elmhurst Public Library’s presentations enough. We’re grateful for all the work they do to bring interesting and educational speakers to our community.

Famous Hollywood PairsFred Astaire and Ginger Rogers were dance partners in ten films, nine of which spanned from 1933 to 1939. Their last film together, “The Barkleys of Broadway,” was released in 1949 and was their only color film.

Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall were married for a short time and made four films together between 1944 and 1948: “To Have and Have Not,” “The Big Sleep,” “Dark Passage” and “Key Largo.”

Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy worked together between 1927 and 1955. During that time, they appeared as a team in 107 films. They starred in 23 full-length feature films, 40 short sound films, 32 short silent films, and many cameo appearances.

Bud Abbott and Lou Costello were a comedy duo active from 1935 until 1957. They made about 40 movies and countless radio and television appearances, including The Abbot and Costello show, which appeared in both media. It has been said the team performed their iconic “Who’s on First” routine approximately 15,000 times.

Presenter Larry Bergnach is a resident of Oak Lawn. He has presented talks and lectures on nostalgic topics for the last 17 years.
