Roll Up for the McCormick House Tour – BMW of Elmhurst Dealer

It’s time for the McCormick House Tour at the Elmhurst Art Museum. On Saturday, May 21, 2022, you’ll have a chance to investigate one of Elmhurst’s most noteworthy homes. The tour starts at 1:30 p.m. and lasts about an hour. Your tour guides are docents who know the history of this house and the people who lived there. At BMW of Elmhurst, we’re continually impressed by the Elmhurst Art Museum’s many offerings, particularly the events centered around the McCormick House. The McCormick House is a single-family home created by architect Mies van der Rohe in 1952. The house was built for Robert Hall McCormick III, a member of one of Chicago’s storied families, and his wife, the poet Isabella Gardner. The McCormick House is one of only three homes Mies designed and built in the United States. The McCormick House Tour provides a unique opportunity to visit this important residence while learning about its history.

When you take the McCormick House Tour, you’ll enjoy an immersive look at the past to discover how one of the most prominent families in Elmhurst lived. The museum carefully restored the home to its original condition, complete with period furniture. The entertaining and educational tour will shed light on the McCormick family and the history of our community. You’ll explore the architectural details and discover the art and artifacts on display.

After the McCormick House Tour, you’ll have the opportunity to view an art exhibit by Jan Tichy, which uses the house’s environment to explore light and movement.
