See The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time – BMW of Elmhurst Dealer

The York High School Drama Club presents “The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time” on Oct. 14-17 at 6:30 p.m. This critically acclaimed play is written by Simon Stephens and based on the best-selling novel by Mark Haddon. Developed at London’s National Theatre, the play has been a big hit with audiences around the globe. It received five Tony Awards and seven Olivier Awards, including the award for best play. At BMW of Elmhurst, we always look forward to the productions of this talented young theater group, and we’re pleased they’ll be performing live once again.

The play tells the story of Christopher Boone, who has an autism spectrum condition, as he investigates a mystery surrounding the death of a neighbor’s dog. Critics have praised the play’s ability to portray Christopher’s point of view and the compassion of his school mentor. Critics were also impressed by the play’s visual effects.

“This is the perfect show to welcome our students and audience back to live performances,” said director John Forsythe. “It embodies the magic and storytelling that only live theatre can provide.” He explained that Christopher’s character connects the audience in the same way stories have transported audiences throughout time, from Shakespeare to Star Wars. Forsythe went on to say he is grateful that audiences can now appreciate this production in an open-air festival tent.

“The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time” features an ensemble of 27 actors and showcases the technical work of many York students.
