Shakespeare Project of Chicago: A Conversation with J.R. Sullivan – BMW of Elmhurst Dealer

Fans of Shakespeare won’t want to miss Shakespeare Project of Chicago: A Conversation with J.R. Sullivan. This virtual event is presented by the Elmhurst Public Library on Thursday, Oct. 15, from 7-8 p.m. Peter Garino, artistic director of the Shakespeare Project of Chicago, will interview acclaimed director J.R. Sullivan. Topics will include Sullivan’s approach to directing Shakespeare performances and the reasons why Shakespeare is still relevant to today’s audiences. We at BMW of Elmhurst are certain this will be an interesting and enlightening talk. Admission to this virtual Zoom event is free, so we hope you’re able to attend from home.

J.R. Sullivan has been Artistic Director for the Pearl Theatre Company of New York City, the Associate Art Director of the Utah Shakespearean Festival, and the founder and Producing Artistic Director of the New American Theater in Rockford, Illinois. He has a long list of directing credits, including off-Broadway productions, the Oregon Shakespeare Festival and the Utah Shakespeare Festival.

Peter Garino is a founding member of The Shakespeare Project of Chicago, where he has served as Artistic Director since June 2010. He recently appeared as the Prince/Peter in Romeo and Juliet and as Polonius in the group’s theatrical reading of Hamlet, Prince of Denmark. He directed Richard III in The Project’s 2019-2020 season. This past season, he appeared as Helicanus in Pericles, Prince of Tyre and as Marcus Andronicus in Titus Andronicus.
