The Beethoven Cello Sonatas Part II – BMW of Elmhurst Dealer

The Summer Music at Bethel season concludes on Sunday, Aug. 7, at 5 p.m. with the final installment of Beethoven’s complete sonatas for cello. The performance features cellist Timothy Archbold and pianist Jeffrey Panko and takes place at Bethel United Church of Christ. The three sonatas performed at this concert showcase examples of the composer’s early, middle, and late periods. Listeners will be able to contrast the different compositional styles of each period. The works evoke a range of emotions, from intimacy and joy to passion and darkness. At BMW of Elmhurst, we’re grateful for the world-class talent the Summer Music at Bethel series brings to the community. We encourage everyone to attend.

Beethoven Cello Sonatas Part IIBeethoven Cello Sonatas Part II will feature Sonata No. 2 in G minor, Op. 5, No. 2; Sonata No. 3 in A major, Op. 69; and Sonata No. 4 in C major, Op. 102, No. 1.

A native of Victoria, Australia, cellist Timothy Archbold has appeared as a soloist with several groups throughout the state and is the winner of many awards and Eisteddfods. He is a member of the Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra and is the assistant principal of the Northwest Indian and Peoria Symphony Orchestra. Archbold is on the teaching faculty at Bradley University, Peoria.

Concert pianist Jeffrey Panko is a faculty member of the New Music School. Based in the Chicagoland area, he has more than 20 years of private teaching experience. His versatility of style and genre include repertoire from Bach to contemporary music. He is the recipient of many awards and honors.

The concert will last approximately one hour, with no intermission, followed by a wine reception.
