Together We Cannot Fail: Overcoming the Great Depression – BMW of Elmhurst Dealer

February 11th, 2021 by

Visit Elmhurst History Museum and experience the latest exhibition, Together We Cannot Fail: Overcoming the Great Depression, which runs through May 2, 2021. The title comes from President Franklin Delano Roosevelt’s first radio address to Americans in March of 1933. At the conclusion of the address, he said, “Together we cannot fail.” The exhibit will explore how Chicago area suburbs like Elmhurst and the surrounding area met the challenges created by the Great Depression, the worst economic crisis in U.S. history. As members of the Elmhurst community, we at BMW of Elmhurst are fascinated by our area’s history. We hope you can attend this exhibition.

Togethe We Cannot FailWhen you attend Together We Cannot Fail: Overcoming the Great Depression, you’ll learn how the country and local communities pulled together to help each other while the economy was rebuilt and people struggled to get back on their feet again. The exhibition explains the different federal programs available, including the Civilian Conservation Corps and the WPA. Also included is a video of Elmhurst’s 1936 centennial parade, photos of a local CCC encampment, artifacts from the 1938-39 Century of Progress Exposition, and more!
